LEXINGTON, Ky. — Entrepreneurs, students and the simply curious can connect with Lexington’s startup community during Global Entrepreneurship Week Lexington (GEWLEX), part of a worldwide celebration taking place Nov. 16–22.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026 unites participants in 200 countries under the theme “The World Needs What You Build.” In Lexington, local organizations, including the University of Kentucky Economic Engagement and the Economic Development Collaborative, are hosting events throughout the week.

Scheduled events include a Startup Breakfast at DV8 Kitchen in Lexington’s East End, UK Startups Office Hours at Base110 and an online session called SBIR Unplugged. Additional events, including a University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics event and an Awesome Inc. event, will be announced.

“GEWLEX celebrates the important role that entrepreneurship and innovation play in Lexington’s knowledge-based economic development ecosystem, while also providing an on-ramp for anyone interested in entrepreneurship to connect with others who share their goals and aspirations,” said Eric Hartman, senior associate director of startup ventures and capital at UK and director of Invest Blue. “Whether you’re an experienced entrepreneur or simply curious about getting involved, there will truly be something for everyone throughout the week.”

The week aims to inspire people to explore their potential as entrepreneurs, connect them with mentors and investors, and strengthen local business ecosystems.
